Abstract:

Dr. Kaelber will shed light on the challenges healthcare providers face in reducing drug errors as they navigate through today’s decision support systems.  He will then share lessons learned and recommendations based on his 10+ years of experience as CMIO in the MetroHealth System (HIMSS Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model Stage 7 and Davies Enterprise Award winner) -- including an approach that has proven highly successful for implementing and refining drug alerts to improve patient safety while minimizing alert fatigue.
