For over 30 years, the Top 600 Specialty Contractors list has showcased the largest specialty contractors in the U.S., but it also measures the markets for specialty trade and subcontracting and identifies the issues and trends that will affect the markets and how subcontractors do business.

Gary Tulacz, ENR’s Senior Editor and manager of the ENR Top Lists for the past 20+ years, will moderate a panel of executives from the largest specialty contracting firms as they discuss the results of the 2016 Top 600 survey and opportunities for future business.

Charles A. Bacon III

Chairman & CEO
Limbach Facilities Services

Charles A. Bacon, III (“Charlie”) is Chief Executive Officer of Limbach Holdings, LLC, a top ten nationwide mechanical and maintenance specialty contractor. Prior to his joining Limbach in 2004, Charlie worked with Bovis Lend Lease for 21 years.

Beginning his career at Bovis as an Assistant Superintendent, he worked his way from the field to the office, eventually becoming the CEO of the North & South America business units, managing 26 offices that generated revenues exceeding $3.4 billion.

Charlie’s advocacy to improve safety within the industry began in 2000. A series of events led him in this direction, including his grandfather’s losing eight fingers in an industrial accident and witnessing the death of an elevator constructor in 1983. Shortly after his appointment to the global Bovis Lend Lease Executive Committee as the CEO of the Americas, Charlie accepted the challenge and responsibility of providing executive oversight for Health & Safety of the global company.

Dave Suder

President & CEO
KHS&S- West Coast

As President/CEO KHS&S - West Coast, Dave Suder provides the strategic vision, executive management and drives the corporate philosophy for the KHS&S family of companies, which includes KHS&S Contractors and KHS&S International. Dave helped found KHS&S-West Coast in 1996 and has grown it from a regional subcontracting firm to one of the largest interior/exterior building companies in the world, with offices in 14 domestic cities and two international locations.

Through a combination of vision, hard work and risk-taking, Suder has created a multidisciplinary, multi-company organization that combines the traditional foundations of quality construction and the artistry of master craftsmanship with the advanced technology of digital modeling and virtual project delivery. His philosophy of growing the organization through expanding the vision and capabilities of the KHS&S employee teams has become a cornerstone of the KHS&S culture.

Educated at California State University at Fullerton, Suder is experienced in every facet of construction management. He is affiliated with numerous professional associations, including the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation, Servite High School, American Heart Association and the ACE Mentorship Program. In 2009, Dave was also named an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year® for the California and desert regions.

Tim Chadwick

President & CEO
MMC Contractors, Inc.

As the president and CEO of MMC Corp, Tim directs overall operations and planning for the MMC family of companies, which includes MMC Contractors, MW Builders, and Countywide Mechanical Systems.

Tim started his career with MW Builders in the field as a project engineer after completing his college degree. He has held a variety of positions within the firm, such as estimator, project manager, operations manager, and president before transitioning to his leadership position at the corporate level.

Tim’s current responsibilities include the development of short- and long-term business plans; strategic planning, people development, operations support programs, and employee programs designed to make the organization a desired place to work.

MMC Corp is a national construction company that grew from revenue in 1984 of $45 million to $535 million in 2015. In 1999, the company established an ESOP and is now 100% employee-owned. Growth and expansion have been accomplished through the development of a dynamic organizational structure, timely management information systems, and a management team that reacts in a decisive manner.

Tim is also responsible for ensuring the company values are lived and embraced by the employee owners.

Gary J. Tulacz has been the senior editor in charge of the ENR Top Lists and for reporting on economic and market trends since 1993. A graduate of Fordham College and Fordham University School of Law, Tulacz was admitted to the bar in New York.

Before coming to ENR, he worked for 14 years editing legal newsletters on labor and employment law, wage and hour law compliance and occupational safety and health issues.

He also wrote a series of employment guides on issues like the 1986 federal immigration reform act, employee drug testing and workplace sexual harassment law.

Since coming to ENR, Tulacz developed the ENR Top Program Management Firms list, the Top 100 Green Design Firms and Top 100 Green Contractors lists, and the Construction Industry Confidence Index survey.
